My Family History

Burgess Meets Lowery In Indiana

Welcome!

In January of 1946, Toddy Lowery introduced his baby brother, Morrell, to the young lady who lived across the street, Margaret Burgess. In a comparatively short time, on February 19,1946, they were married in Needmore, Indiana. Thus begins the story of my existence.

While this site is devoted to the Burgess and Lowery families from which I have descended, I wish to dedicate it to four individuals in particular. I never met these people, as they had all died prior to my birth. However, I feel that I have known them my entire life.

They have a few things in common - First, we visited and paid our respects at their graves on Memorial Day for as long as I can remember. So, they've just always felt like "family", which they are, but, well, it's hard to explain. Secondly, none have any known descendants. Nor, as far as I know, anyone left alive who even knew them.

This makes me very sad. For them of course, but I know that, one day, not really so far in the future, I will be in their position. But, for now, I can honor them and hope that it will in some small measure give them a place in my family's history. They are:

Charles Earnest Burgess: April 26, 1927 - June 14, 1928
Phyllis Collen Burgess: November 25, 1931 - February 28, 1933
Loretta Jean Fisher: March 16, 1936 - March 16, 1936
Lawrence Earl Fisher: March 27, 1917 - March 3, 1951

I have no wish to leave out my dad's side of the family. However, while he too lost siblings as infants, until I started in genealogy, I did not know of their existence. Therefore, I, unfortunately, do not feel the same affinity for them. But, as they, too, are left with no descendants and are not remembered by anyone alive today, I give them special recognition on this main page:

Georgie Lowery: March 22, 1908 - March 22, 1908
Leona Lowery: March 20, 1914 - April 4, 1914
Leota Lowery: March 20, 1914 - March 29, 1914

And, my older sister, never named, never actually experienced life . . .

Baby Girl Lowery: June 28, 1949 - June 28, 1949

(Not that there is anything ground-breaking here, however, I ask that you NOT take information from this site and present it as your sole work, nor sell it for any reason. A link back to this site would be great!)
